Ceramics open studio offered at MassMu

The Massillon Museum will host open studio times in its ceramics facility beginning May 4. Registration is open. Call Stephanie Toole, education and outreach manager, at 330-833-4061 ext. 104.

The studio will be open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to adults who have previously studied ceramics at MassMu or another institution. No instruction is available during ceramics open studio. Ceramicists register for either Wednesday or Saturday.

Participants may use the studio for any amount of time during the open hours. The number of registrants is limited to allow maximum availability of the pottery wheels and studio equipment.

The monthly fee is $50 or $40 per MassMu member. New members are welcome at any time. Use of tools, wheels, glazes and firing are included in the fee. Participants may bring their own clay or purchase a 25-pound bag from the museum for $20.

Ceramicists interested in working offsite and paying a monthly fee to have their pieces fired in the MassMu ceramics studio can call Toole or visit www.MassillonMuseum.org.

The Massillon Museum’s ceramics studio is located in the former Chamber of Commerce office at the corner of Lincoln Way East and City Hall Street. It is accessed through the museum’s main entrance.
