Kakanuru wins Wooster bee

Wooster City Schools Spelling Bee was held Dec. 9 at Wooster High School with 13 participating students ranging from grades 6-8.

The overall winner was Nick Kakanuru, an eighth-grader at Wooster High School, with the winning word misericords, a word with dual spelling possibilities: misericords or misericordes. The runner up was Noah Greene, a sixth-grader at Edgewood Middle School. Third place was Edgewood’s Elijah Dean, and tied for fourth place were Edgewood students Joel French and Delaney Hoffman.

Kakanuru and Greene will both advance to the Wayne County Spelling Bee on Jan. 24 at 6:30 p.m. at Orrville High School.
