Zinda, Stoneman selected as CHS November Students of the Month

Selected as Student of the Month for November at Carrollton High School are Rebecca Stoneman and Trevor Zinda, both seniors.

Daughter of Neil and Lori Stoneman of Carrollton, Rebecca is a member of the CHS Chamber Chorus, band and a pianist. She has two brothers, Jay, who is studying at Kent State University and Ben, an 8th grader. Her hobbies include learning how to cook and bake new things.

Upon graduation, Rebecca plans to attend Mount Vernon Nazarene University and major in elementary education and intervention.

When asked what teacher, coach, family member or special person has influenced her and why, she replied: My mom, because she does such a job of loving her family and others and is always trying to be kind to everyone. If I can be half the mom and woman she is someday, I’ll consider it a success.

When asked what advice can you give for success in life, Rebecca said: Set deadlines and plans for your goals and stick with them.

ZINDA, son Aaron and Jodi Zinda of Carrollton, is a member of the band, jazz band, Brass Choir, Speech and Debate team, various musicals, CHS Club, Youth to Youth Club, Radio Control Club, the Bridge and its youth group.

He also was a delegate to Buckeye Boys State last year.

When asked about his hobbies, Trevor said, “Im really involved in the radio control hobby. I fly my R/C planes and even started a club for it at the school.”

Upon graduation, Zinda plans to attend either Kent State, Pittsburg Institute of Aeronautics or Stark State.

His career plans include doing something in aviation or becoming a fire fighter. “But that village council spot up for election next year looks really interesting,” Zinda added.

When asked what teacher, coach, family member or special friend has influenced him and why, Trevor said: I would definitely say that Elon Musk has influenced me the most. The reason why is he makes most of his inventions for the betterment of society and not for profit. He also doesn’t let people call his inventions stupid or say they won’t work because he proves them wrong.

In offering advice for success in life, Zinda said: When life gets you down, just remember: She’ll buff.

As Students of the Month both Rebecca and Trevor become eligible for a $500 scholarship provided by McFadden Insurance Co. to one boy and one girl at the conclusion of the 2020-21 school year. They also will be treated to lunch by CHS Principal David Davis and have their pictures displayed at CHS.
