Sherry's Book Corner

Hello everyone! Are you ready for more entertainment? I sure hope so.

The title of this book is “Explore America’s 100 Best-Loved Novels/The Book of Books.” It was featured in the PBS Series, The Great American Read. The books whose ideas, themes, and characters have shaped our country are all in one great read. Many have been made into movies or mini-series. I have always been a book lover and this book has opened my eyes to many books I have never read!

For those of you who may want to become a writer as well, I read many different thoughts from some of these authors. Jack London aimed to write 1,000 words a day. James Baldwin said that endurance was one of the most important qualities in a writer. And my favorite was shared by Mark Twain, “Write without pay until somebody offers pay; if nobody offers within three years, sawing wood is what you were intended for.”

I hope you enjoy this book as much as I have. I noticed many of the books I have read in the past, and now I am making a new list of books to enjoy in the future! As the book jacket states, “Whether you’re inspired to reread an old favorite or pick up a new classic, The Great American Read: The Book of Books will definitely inspire you to add to your ‘must-read’ list.”

Until next time, you’d better stock up on your light bulbs!

Your friend,
