Amstutz, Hofstetter attend conference

Wayne County commissioner Ron Amstutz and commissioner-elect Jon Hofstetter attended the 2022 County Commissioners Association of Ohio and the County Engineers Association of Ohio Winter Conference in Columbus recently.

Amstutz was elected to a two-year term on the board of trustees while Hofstetter attended in preparation for his role as commissioner beginning Jan. 1.

The three-day event’s theme was "Innovation and Inspiration to Shape Ohio’s Future," and it provided an opportunity for Ohio’s local officials to hear from experts who shared methods to address important issues facing Ohio counties.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and First Lady Fran DeWine spoke at the CCAO/CEAO Luncheon. Gov. DeWine shared his plan to continue investing in counties, and the first lady spoke about the progress made through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Program. Ohio Senate President Matt Huffman spoke about the issues facing Ohio and Ohio counties.

Other session topics discussed included jails and re-entry programs, workforce development, mental health, broadband expansion, cybersecurity and more. The range of topics gave attendees the opportunity to customize their experience at the conference.

The 2023 CCAO Executive Committee officers also were elected at the CCAO annual membership and business meeting. The 2023 executive committee is as follows:

—Glenn Miller, Henry County commissioner, CCAO president.

—Chris Abbuhl, Tuscarawas County commissioner, CCAO first vice president.

—David Painter, Clermont County commissioner, CCAO second vice president.

—Casey Kozlowski, Ashtabula County commissioner, CCAO secretary.

—Denise Driehaus, Hamilton County commissioner, CCAO treasurer.
