The public is invited to submit photos to the Tuscarawas County Amateur Photographic Association’s annual photo contest.

The contest is held in cooperation with the Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts.

There are several categories in the contest: black and white, which includes any subject in black and white, and color categories of nature, people, landscapes/cityscapes and other.

The entry fee is $5 per photo with no limit set on the amount of entries.

Previous winning photos from prior shows may not be entered, and only original images taken by the photographer can be entered. Any photos found to have been downloaded from the internet will be removed.

Entries can be submitted on Friday, Jan. 7 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. or weekdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Tuscarawas Center for the Arts, 461 Robinson Ave. SE, New Philadelphia.

Anyone from any county can enter the contest as long as they can drop off their entries at the Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts on or before Jan. 7.

Framed work should have wire backs for hanging at the exhibit. Prints mounted on matte board are acceptable. All prints should have the name, address and phone number of the photographer written on the back. Prints can be marked with a price or NFS (not for sale). The art center retains 30% commission for any sales made.

The minimum size for photographs submitted is 8-by-10, but there is no maximum set size.

The Tuscarawas County Amateur Photographic Association and the Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts are not responsible for any loss or damage of the entries.

The photos will be hung for public viewing at the Tuscarawas Center for the Arts with a special reception on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m. Winning ribbons will be awarded to photographs in each category. All items may be picked up after the reception.

The Tuscarawas County Amateur Photographic Association has been around since 1981. There are about a dozen active members of the group currently.
