DoverPhila Federal Credit Union will present a variety of financial education programs throughout the year.

Starting in October, the credit union will offer a free five-week wellness program at Buckeye Career Center in New Philadelphia that focuses on goal-setting and saving, building a budget, dealing with debt, understanding credit, credit reports and credit scores, and protecting your money.

The series helps build the skills needed to manage money and choose the financial products and services that work best for you. Two sessions of the program are available.

The first session is scheduled Mondays, Oct. 4 through Nov. 1 from 6-7:30 p.m.

The second session is scheduled Mondays, March 7 through April 4 from 6-7:30 p.m.

Those interested can call the credit union at 330-364-8874 ext. 1936.

Also starting in October, area educators can earn continuing education units at no cost to them through a partnership between DoverPhila and the East Central Ohio Educational Service Center, which will offer a three-part professional-development series that focuses on free financial education resources and platforms educators can use in a variety of classroom settings such as traditional, in-person, remote and hybrid.

The professional-development series has two sessions available. The first session is scheduled for Tuesdays, Oct. 5-19 from 4-5 p.m. The second session is scheduled for Tuesdays, March 8-22 from 4-5 p.m.

Educators who attend will earn continuing education units toward their licensing. Both professional-development sessions are held at East Central Ohio Educational Service Center’s office in New Philadelphia. Educators can call the ESC at 330-308-9939 or visit the website at www.ecoesc.org for more details and to register.

The partnership between DPFCU and the ESC also includes quarterly financial programming available to the public at cost. Topics include internet and cyber security, taxes, auto purchasing, and prepping your child for life after high school.
