Starting Monday, Oct. 25, families can bring in a scarecrow they made together for the Scarecrow Making Contest at the Dover Public Library.

Scarecrows will be placed in the community room all week for patrons to vote on the best scarecrow.

Prizes will be awarded to first- and second-place winners. The first-place prize is a Park Street Pizza gift card, Hocus Pocus board game and two family movies on DVD. The second-place prize also is a gift card from Park Street Pizza and a family movie on DVD.

Winners will be announced on Saturday, Oct. 30 at the 10 a.m. Spooky Storytime. Voting will end on Friday, Oct. 29.

“After story time patrons can head over to the children’s department for more fun,” said Jennifer Gardner, children’s department manager.

“We can’t wait to see all the kiddos dressed up for Halloween,” Robyn Matako said.

Children are encouraged to dress up to start their trick-or-treating off early with the library.

“We will have trick-or-treating stations throughout the library,” Gardner said.

Also included in the day’s festivities will be craft stations and a Halloween game with prizes.

Registration is not required. Call the library at 330-343-6123 or visit
