Orrville Area United Way’s VITA program back in Feb.

The Orrville Area United Way is once again offering its VITA program for low-income workers in the Orrville area. The program provides free basic income tax preparation by volunteers during the month of February, with services being provided out of the Orrville Area United Way office.

The VITA program will be held Feb. 8, 15 and 22 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Feb. 12 and 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and March 1 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Families interested in participating can call WHIRE to schedule an appointment time slot at 330-263-6363. For the safety of United Way volunteers and clients, masks will be required.

Anyone interested in a community-service opportunity is asked to sign up for a minimum of two shifts. Training will be provided, and no previous tax-preparation experience is necessary.

This is a great way to give back to the community and allows low-income residents to get their taxes done without being taken advantage of by companies who charge high processing fees and sell them on loans. Simply said, every dollar they can keep in their pocket can be game-changing.

If interested in volunteering, call Pete Krogh, Kevin Hare, Liz Bogucki or Jeff Eshelman at 330-317-3374 or email jeshelman@gmail.com.
